Mon. Daniel 5:1-30 The Writing on the Wall: Today;s Scripture is Daniel 5:1-30. This passage talks about Daniel and the writing on the wall. King Belshazzar gave a banquet for a thousand royal guests and drank wine with them. As Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring the gold and silver cups that his ancestor Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem. He told them to bring them so that his royal guests. wives, and his slave women could drink from them. They all drfank from the cups. As they were drinking, they praised their gods, which were made from gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone. (False Gods)Suddenly, fingers of a person's hand appeared and began writing on the plaster of the wall. The king watched the hand as it wrote. He was very frightened. His face turned white, his knees knocked together, and he could not stand up because his legs were too weak. The king called for the magicians, wise men, and wizards of Babylon and asked if any of them could read the writing. I f they could explain it, they would recieve purple clothes fit for a king and a gold chain around their neck. And that he would make that person 3rd highest ruler in the kingdom. All the king's wisemen and magicians came in and none of them could determine what the writings said. He became even more white and afraid. A llo his royal guest were confused. Later, they brought in Daniel and he understood what it said and he explained it to the king. So the king demanded that Daniel be dressed in purple and gold. That night Belshazzar was killed and Darius the Medew became king when he was 60 years old.
ReplyDeleteTues. Daniel 6:1-28 Daniel and the Lions: Today's passage is Daniel 6:1-28. This passage talks about Daniel in the lions den. Darius thought it would be a good ideda to have 120 governors who would rule his kingdom. He chosed 3 men as supervisors over those 120 men. Daniel wasw one of the supervisors. They were to ensure that the governors did not try to cheat the king. Daniel showed that he could do the job better than all the supervisors and governors, so the king planned to put Daniel in charge of the whole kingdom. Because of this, the governors and supervisors tried to find ways to accuse Daniel, because he was trustworthy and not lazy or dishonest. Finally, they gave up. Everyone agreed on a new law, that no one should pray to any god but him, the king. Anyone who doesn't obey will be thrown in the lion's den. Daniel disobeyed and was thrown in the lion's den. All mwhile he was in the lion'd een he prayed to God that he would be protected from the lion's. When the people found out that Daniel was still praying in the lion's den, the ran and got the king. Daniel made it out without one scratch. Daniel had noe became the king.
ReplyDeleteThurs. Jonah 3:1-4:11 Wrong Motives: Today's passage is Jonah 3:1-4:11. This passage is about wrong motives. The Lord told Jonah to get up and go to the city of Nineveh and preach what the Lord tells him to say. Jonah obeyed and went to Nineveh. He told the people that Nineveh would be destroyed in 40 days. The people believed God. They decided to fast for awhile. They put on rough clothing to show their sadness. The king did the same.
